Webcasts

In addition to traditional face-to-face gatherings, the MLTI staff will also be using web-based technologies to communicate and collaborate with educators interested in engaging in conversation around teaching and learning with technology. These WebCast events will provide an opportunity to participate interactively in a live virtual environment, all right from the comfort of your own computer desktop.

Weekly Thursday  Webinars: Offered at both 3:15 pm and 7:15 pm and will be approximately an hour long. Topics will be updated, as well as links to full descriptions, for each WebCast listed below about 2 weeks prior to the event date.

Principal Webinars: These webinars will be offered again this year on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 4:00pm (Schedule may vary due to holidays and school vacations)

Arts Assessment Initiative Webinars: The MLTI and Department of Education will be hosting 5 webinars throughout the 2011-2012 school year on the Maine Arts Assessment Initiative and how it impacts teaching and learning in our schools.  Please join visual art educator Catherine Ring and music educator Rob Westerberg, and guests for the webinar series.  You can read more about these webinars on the Arts Assessment Initiative website.

We have upgraded to a new registration system, allowing you to register directly in Adobe Connect, making the whole webinar process smoother and easier! If you have any questions, please contact Juanita Dickson.

Click on the time you wish to participate in and you will be directed to an online registration form.  Please type your email address carefully as all information will be sent to that address. After registering you will receive a confirmation email with a log in link – please use that link to log into the webinar prior to the start time.
Some attendees are experiencing problems with FirstClass – a confirmation email is received but the login link is cut off in the email.  Please note we have added the login link below.  Please remember, you will still need to register.

Please follow these steps to connect to a webinar:

  1. Click on the link for the WebCast you want to attend.
  2. Enter your name in the box when prompted.
  3. In order to listen and speak during the meeting, you will need to be connected by telephone as well as the Internet. To help you connect by phone, a box will appear asking for your phone number so the Connect conference room can call you back. If you have a telephone with a direct-dial phone number, please accept this option, enter your phone number, and we will call you right back.
  4. If you have a telephone with no direct-line phone number (if your phone is only reached by a switchboard), please click on CANCEL when the call-back box appears, then dial-in to the meeting using this access combination:

  5. To participate in the web conference, you will need:
    1. a computer with a broadband connection to the internet (Cable, DSL, or WiFi); Dial-Up will not work!
    2. Adobe Flash Player 10 installed on your computer; most computers already have the Flash Player installed – however, if yours does not, or if your Flash Player is in need of updating (version 6 or older), you can download the player for free from Adobe by clicking on this link; this is a safe and quick download.
    3. An open phone line; we recommend using a hands-free headset or speakerphone.

    I find myself unavailable for both the web conference times today. Are these recorded for podcast or a transcript available as I am currently using scratch a an 8th grade music/animation class for students to develop public service announcements. We have encountered glitches and several questions. Is there a direct contact- possibly the facilitator of the Webnar that I could contact at a later date?

    I hope to burn my student’s projects onto a DVD for further use. Have not attempted that task yet- I’m assuming that will not be difficult.

    This site is impossible to navigate. I can never find anything. I am looking for archived webinars. They are not under resources. They are not under webinars. Where are they?

    When you mouse over the Webcasts link on the navigation bar, it will display a submenu with a link to the Archives. Additionally, if you click on the Webcasts link, the resulting page has a link to the Archives a few lines above the schedule of webinars.
